The conference saw 28 papers presented on a broad range of topics. HPYD3 Programme HPYD3 Abstracts HPYD4 March 2012 The fourth HPYD conference was held during the Auckland stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race in March 2012. It was a great opportunity to meet the sailors, see the yachts and attend this highly acclaimed, world-class technical conference. The University of Auckland in conjunction with HPYD hosted a very successful public panel discussion on Volvo 70 Design and Sailability. HPYD4 Programme HPYD4 Abstracts 04 HPYD4 05 HPYD5 HPYD5 March 2015 The fifth HPYD conference was held during the Auckland stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race in March 2015. The University of Auckland in conjunction with HPYD hosted a very successful and lively Open Session. "PJ" Montgomery was master of ceremonies and interviewed Knut Frostad, CEO of the Volvo Ocean Race and Race Director, Jack Lloyd. HPYD5 Programme HPYD6 March 2018 On March 11th 2018, the HPYD committee organised a range of exciting, publicly accessible presentations and keynote addresses delivered by some of the top designers and engineers involved in the America’s Cup and Volvo Ocean Race. 06 HPYD6 The Conference HPYD is a series of conferences on high performance yacht design organised by the Royal Institute of Naval Architects (RINA) NZ and the University of Auckland. The first conference was held in December 2002. Since then it has showcased the latest developments in yacht research from around the globe. The conference enables naval architects, engineers, designers and researchers to present and hear papers on the current state of high performance yacht and power craft technology. ​ The conferences feature papers related to the design of high performance power and sailing yachts, including: ​ Structural design and analysis Aerodynamics and hydrodynamics Performance prediction Wind tunnel and towing tank testing Computational methods Hull and appendage design Regulations and rating rules Routing and tactics Conferences are timed to coincide with an international yachting event.       HPYD NZ, TERMS & CONDITIONS FOR DELEGATES AT CONFERENCES 1. Payments All bookings made prior to the conference must be paid in full to guarantee registration. Once payment has been received, an email confirmation and a receipted invoice will be sent. If payment is not made at the time of booking, registration will be provisional. Bookings received less than two weeks before the conference date can only be paid by credit card. ​ 2. Early Bird Rate In order to qualify for any 'early bird' rates, booking and payment must be received before the deadline date listed in the conference marketing material. ​ 3. Substitutions & Cancellations Delegates may nominate an alternative person from their organisation to attend up to 24 hours prior to the start of the event, at no extra charge. Should substitution not be possible, cancellation charges apply as follows: 8 weeks or more prior to start of event: 10% of the delegate fee 4 to 8 weeks prior to start of event: 50% of the delegate fee 4 weeks or less prior to start of event: 100% of the delegate fee All substitutions and cancellations must be received in writing. ​ 4. Access Requirements Delegates should advise of any special access requirements at the time of registration. ​ 5. Registration Information Registration information will be sent to registered delegates by email at least seven days prior to the event. Any delegate not receiving the registration information should contact us by email to registrations@hpyd.org.nz. ​ 6. Alterations to Programme - Cancellation/Postponement of Event HPYD NZ reserves the right to make alterations to the conference programme, venue and timings. In the unlikely event of the programme being cancelled by HPYD NZ, a full refund will be made. Liability will be limited to the amount of the fee paid by the delegate. In the event of it being found necessary, for whatever reason, that the conference is being postponed or the dates being changed, the organisers shall not be liable for any expenditure, damage or loss incurred by the delegate. If by re-arrangement or postponement the event can take place, the booking between the delegate and the organisers shall remain in force and will be subject to the cancellation schedule in paragraph 3. ​ ​ 7. Speakers Views expressed by speakers are their own. HPYD NZ cannot accept liability for advice given, or views expressed, by any speaker at the conference or in any material provided to delegates. ​ 8. Photography & Filming For promotional purposes, there may be a professional photographer and video production taking place during the conference. Data Protection By submitting registration details, delegates agree to allow HPYD NZ and companies associated with the conference to contact them regarding their services. Delegates who do not wish to receive such communications please email info@hpyd.org.nz. The contact details of registered delegates will be placed on the attendee list which will be passed to sponsoring companies and to all attendees for them to see who is at the conference for the purpose of networking and meetings. Delegates who do not wish to be included on this list should advise at the time of booking. ​ 10. Websites & Links The conference and associated HPYD NZ websites may link to other websites and networking tools provided for the convenience of the users. The contents of these websites are maintained by their owners, for which HPYD NZ takes no responsibility. Neither can responsibility be taken for contents of any website linking to this website. ​ 11. Insurance It is the responsibility of the delegate to arrange appropriate insurance cover in connection with their attendance at the conference. HPYD NZ cannot be held liable for any loss, liability or damage to personal property. ​ 12. Speakers Terms & Conditions HPYD NZ may use the speaker’s name and presentation materials for promoting delegate attendance at the conference. Presentations and papers including all associated artwork and illustrations will not be returned unless specifically requested by the author. The papers must be objective and completely free of advertising and commercialism. By submission of the paper the author(s) assigns to the Publisher (Royal Institution of Naval Architects) the copyright to the paper whereby the Publisher shall have the exclusive right to publish the said paper, and translations of it, wholly or in part, throughout the World during the full term of copyright and all renewals and extensions thereof. These rights include without limitation mechanical, electronic and visual reproduction; electronic storage and retrieval; and all other forms of electronic publication or any other types of publication including all subsidiary rights.
